OAXACA, MEXICO

While traveling through Mexico, Dana teamed up with families in the Oaxaca region to create her line of handcrafted woven goods. She studied with 4th generation master weaver Federico Chavez who taught her traditional Zapotec techniques for tapestry weaving on the floor loom that his grandfather gave him. Dana created a collection of Zapotec inspired, naturally dyed, hand woven rugs re-imagined in her minimalist aesthetic and produced by the Chavez family. She is also working on blankets with the Hernandez family who share a similar history of cross-generational weaving on flying shuttle looms.
