San Juan La Laguna

Tito, Dana's beloved grandfather was born and raised in Guatemala. He always instilled in her a great appreciation for the variety of textiles and culture found there.

Dana recently had the opportunity to visit, where she partnered with the ASOAC women’s co-op and association. The organization is based in a small Mayan village on the spiritually charged and world renowned Lake Atitlan. Here, the women own and operate their own shop and studio where they take on woven projects collectively, but are able to work in their individual homes using their backstrap looms. This allows them the freedom to look after their home and children, while having the ability to proudly support their husbands and help with some of the financial burdens they incur.

Guatemalan made table runners just arrived in the shop!. .
