This body of work explores the meditative and transcendent feelings that occur when beach combing and treasure hunting with my children. As a new-ish parent, one is often pulled in a million directions, sometimes the simple act of looking for stones, patterns, or colors within rock groupings with the kids can be revolutionary. To engage with the earth and forget all about life’s demands even for a moment is actually so soothing and something I find to treasure and to behold. I honor these sacred moments by blowing them up and exploring each pebble, stone, or object as a world unto its own. This time with my children are the moments I want to remember. With all the chaos that raising young children entails, it’s easy to let this fleeting memories slip through the cracks. I want to zoom in on them, celebrate them, and remember them forever.
